My girl does not enjoy school.
Actually she is getting much much better but over all would much rather be at home lounging in her underwear than going to school. Well who wouldn't right? She says "its just too much work", home work, site words, projects...all rather painful for her and consequently me as well. The school work has been such a problem that I have actually had her assessed to see if school really needs to be this much work for both of us. She tested very well overall but was found to be delayed in phonology, Phonological processing is essentially the sound and structure of language, so basically phonics, writing and sound memory can be a challenge for her. No big deal except for the fact that these are the foundations for reading. So now my mission in life is to make these challenges fun so that means no flash cards or sit at a table structure. (Montessori was made for kids like mine) She is VERY creative so some fancy pens, paper, tape and a glue stick and I can not stop her from writing and making lists and letters. She stays up writing in bed and I wake up to letters on my bedside table in the morning.

Those letters are super cute. Good for you for making it fun for her -- I firmly believe that great stationary (and related supplies, like fun pens and colourful post-it notes) are a crucial part of any writing project.
Glad you found some things to help. There are some really fun free computer games out there to help with phonology too. They were talking about them at our last staff meeting. I was only half listening, so can't remember any of the sights off the top of my head, but I will check with some of the other teachers tomorrow and let you know. Glitter glue and sparkles also make learning fun. ;)
