rats

I told The Girl months ago she could get a pet hamster.
She has never quite gotten over Hobbit and has been begging for a new pet since she passed.
I had managed to put her off till summer then till after camp.
When the time came to get serious and research hamsters I found out they are quite nasty. They are not much of a companion, they bite, they are nocturnal and they stink. Same with a gerbil. I briefly considered a guinea pig but they need an huge amount of space and you have to get two. And according to my cousin Jayson they are dumb as dirt and have "blood curdling screams". I went on countless online forums and found that rats were constantly been brought up as great pets. I Googled them and sure enough they are affectionate, smart and clean and fairly inexpensive to maintain. I had this image of nasty teeth and a scaly tail but found they kind of look like an overgrown gerbil...cute.
I went on Kijiji found a couple of rats (they are social critters and you need to get them in pairs) that needed a new home we went to meet them we all hit it off and now I would like to introduce you to Vinnie and Hugo Hutton.

The Girl made them a welcome box to play in.

snugly little guys with adorable whiskers.

The boy loving any and all animals immediately hit it off with the rats.

When you scratch them in just the right "happy spot" behind their ears they grind their teeth and make this happy little clicky purring sound.

The Girl is over the moon.
These little guys will not lack for affection I am thinking.
Welcome to the family guys.
